The whole NEM tab

This screen is the first tab in the Display plugin. It is on this screen that you can view a summary of the most up to date NEMMCO data for the entire NEM. As you can see in the following screen shot, the Whole NEM tab consists of 3 distinct components (2 of which are repeated, once for each Region). If you mouse over the image below, the various components will light up in colour. If you click on the component that you wish to learn more about, it will link you to the correct section of this page.

Map Display - Back to the Top of the Page
The first component is the map display. The numbers shown on this display are the dispatch (5 minute) Pricing, Demand and Interconnector (Flow and Import/Export Constraints) data for each of the Regions and Interconnectors in the NEM. Additionally, the top of the map display, shows the current computer clock time, as well as the latest dispatch time present in your deSide database. The image below shows each of the major components of the Map Display, along with a short explanation.

A A region display (in this case, QLD).
  1. The top number is the current dispatch price.
  2. The bottom number is the current dispatch demand.
B An interconnector display (in this case, DLNK).
  1. The top number is the current dispatch interconnector export constraint.
  2. The middle number is the current dispatch interconnector flow.
  3. The bottom number is the current dispatch interconnector import constraint.
C The clock time of the machine the deSide Client is running on. This is your local time.
D The latest dispatch time in your local deSide Database. During normal operations, this should be equal to the latest NEMMCO dispatch time, but if your deSide Updater is experiencing problems, this will be out of date.

Region Price Box - Back to the Top of the Page
The second component displays price data for the previous, current and next trading periods for the region in question.

1 The top value is the previous trading price for the region.
2 The middle value is the estimated price for the current trading period. This value is the average of actual 5 minute prices for the 5 minute periods that have already taken place and predispatch values for all 5 minute periods yet to pass.
For example, if it was currently 11:15 AM NEMTIME, then this section would show AVERAGE(10:05 Price + 10:10 Price + 10:15 Price + 10:20 Predispatch Price + 10:25 Predispatch Price + 10:30 Predispatch Price).
3 The bottom value is simply NEMMCO's predispatch price for the next trading period (i.e. at 11:15 AM, this would show the expected price for the 12:00 midday period).

Region Graph - Back to the Top of the Page
The third component is the Region Graph. This graph displays 5 minute data for available generation, demand and price both for periods that have already taken place, and periods that are yet to take place (i.e. predispatch). The left hand side of the graph (the area displayed solidly and indicated with the red arrow), is for the NEMMCO data that has already taken place (i.e. for past dispatch periods). The right hand side of the graph (the area displayed with a slight transparency, indicated with a blue arrow), is for the NEMMCO pre-dispatch data.

deSide Silver Model Only Data
The Silver model of deSide also displays pre-dispatch price sensitivities for the region in question on this graph. These are displayed as the grey lines on the pre-dispatch side of the graph.
